In Its Time…

“I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly” (Isaiah 60:22).  What is it that the Lord will do swiftly when the time is right?  “Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one travelling through, I will… bring you gold and silver in place of iron… bronze and iron in place of stones…” (60:15-17).  This the big ALTHOUGH of faith.  That God always do new things in the midst of desolate and desperate situations.  It is the most exciting aspect of the journey with God.  That, against all odds, God shows up in unexpected ways contrary to what the evidence sometimes suggest.  However, this also brings forward the most testing aspect of faith.  To trust that God will do this swiftly, but in God’s own time.  God’s time does not necessarily coincide with our time.  Therefore, to live into God’s although and to anticipate God’s swift action to bring about new things in our lives require the patience and persistence of faith.  The Bible calls it waiting on the Lord based on God’s proven record of being faithful and trustworthy.  What is it that you are waiting on the Lord for in your life?
