Spiritual Instincts

December 14, 2010 § Leave a comment

It is always a question what difference it makes being a Christian.  Jude – that short little letter tucked before Revelations at the end of the Bible – talks about two types of people.  There are those with ungodly desires that follow their natural instincts (v.18-19), and then there are those who pray in the Holy Spirit while keeping themselves in God’s love and waiting for the mercy of Christ (v.20-21).  The second group of people live with spiritual instincts shaped by the trinitarian gifts of God’s love, Christ’s mercy, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore they are able to be merciful to those who doubt, and save others from the fire (v.22).  Which instincts are you and I following today?  Will those who come in touch with us today be able to see the reflection of God’s love, Christ’s mercy, and the inspiration of the Spirit?
