Hope leads to Love

December 3, 2010 § Leave a comment

Hope without love is a selfish claiming of God’s gift in Jesus only for the purposes of the self.  Romans 15:4-13 spells out the intricate relationship between hope and love.  The hope we have received in Christ (15:4) is inspirational to the extent that it inspires to accept one another just as Christ accepted us (15:7).  Praise to God is a life in which hope results in love (15:7).  What inspires you during this Advent and Christmas season?  If you are inspired by the Advent message of hope in the One whose birth we celebrate, may that inspire you to put that hope to work.  Who is God sending you to so that your hope can be embodied as love that makes a difference in the life of someone else?  Look around today, and let God show you an opportunity for an act of love.  My prayer for you is Romans 15:13:  “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
