We Will Not Fear

It should be no surprise that the phrases “do not worry” and “do not be afraid” are so prominent in the Bible, because anxiety on all kinds of levels is integrally part of the human condition.  Psalm 46 says “we will not fear” when we fully put our trust in God as “our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (46:1).  Therefore, “be still, and know that I am God” (46:10).  It is important for us to be still on a regular basis for the sake of recognizing the shapes and forms of our anxiety, and to then surrender those fears to God by focusing on Him as the One who is with us, who protect us as our fortress, and who is the only One we can trust with all our heart.
