Birth Pains

When the going gets tough, it often just happen beyond our control.  What makes a difference though, is how we look at tough times.  Even though it is not easy at all to always see God in the midst of real difficult circumstances, Christians always expect God to do new and surprising things from within such difficulties.  Matthew 23:37 – 24:14 talks about wars, famine, and earthquakes as the beginning of birth pains (24:8).  As Christians, we don’t look in despair at all the bad stuff happening in life.  We always live in the anticipation that God will give birth to something new again.  Verse 12 warns against the ability of wickedness all around us to cause the love of most to grow cold.  But he who stands firm to the end will be saved (24:13).
