God’s destiny for the world

November 9, 2010 § Leave a comment

In the midst of tough times, Job is reminded of the eventual outcome of the wicked and the godless (Job 20:1-11).  The seemingly dominant forces of evil and godlessness in the world will eventually perish.  This is how one of Job’s friends encourage him when the going gets tough.  It is almost as if Job’s friend mocks the wicked for being on their way to becoming nothing.  If we continue reading to 20:15, it will be clear that God is the one who will make all of this happen.  It is not our judgment, and it is God’s power that will destroy whoever God identifies as the wicked.  It brings comfort and strength though if we recognize the future to be in God’s hands.
