The world belongs to God

In a strange way, it is one of the hardest things for Christians to truly believe.  That the world belongs to God, and that the destiny of this world is in God’s hands.  It sounds obvious, but when the going gets tough, it is not always that easy to expect good things from the world.  When the harshness of life show its ugly faces, it is tough to anticipate a kind future.  During such difficult times, the not-so-tough get ready to trust God for a trustworthy future despite evidence to the contrary.  We get ready by focusing on “the Mighty One” who “summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets” (Psalm 50:1).  He is the One who “knows every bird in the mountains,” and who said “every animal of the forest… (and) the creatures of the field are mine” (50:10-11).  He is the One that we call upon in the day of trouble (50:15).
