Remembering Jesus

October 16, 2010 § Leave a comment

I hear the call from 2 Timothy 2:8, “Remember Jesus Christ…”.  This is the gospel for which I am suffering, adds Paul.  The truth is only Jesus.  Seeking the truth is remembering a person, Jesus Christ, God among us.  Remembering Jesus is the continuing gospel, always a living Word of God that cannot be chained in new, ever-changing circumstances (2:9).  I hear the warning that we are always so capable of chaining God’s Word with doctrines that binds the truth by reducing God’s Word from centered in a Person to ideas and concepts of dogma.  I pray for the challenge of our congregation to remember Jesus, and identifying His presence and activity in our midst as we continue the journey within ever-changing circumstances.
